1 maart aanstaande starten wij met een nieuw Joomla cursus van 10 lesavonden. De lessen duren twee en een half uur.

Stap voor stap leer je een website te bouwen en onderhouden met Joomla! We werken met de laatste versie Joomla! 2.5.

Life is a cycle and life is eternal. The circle is a symbol of both. I decided not to make the circle perfectly round cause in life things do not always go smoothly. Birth, relationships and death have a great impact in our existence. They do not leave us unmoved, hence the distortion in the form of the circle. Also aestethically it is more interesting to see an organic shape I think, in relation to life. Web font possibilities have been very few in the past but that has come to an end! With CSS3 and Javascript we have a lot more freedom to use fonts on our pages without having to use images all the time. Here I used the font ‘Lobster’ in a nice lobster color with a nice picture of a definitely good tasting lobster. They have had the logo for years so they would like to keep it. This can give a problem: the logo might be ‘ugly’ or not representing the person or company which makes it very hard to place it in a well designed website. The logo is the first thing noticed when we view a webpage so it has to be in line and with the overall design. Most of the times the overall design of a website is actually tuned to fit the logo or brand. In some extreme cases I strongly advice people to get a new logo with the website cause the one they have is not a logo but a ‘nogo’. In other cases it is a just a challenge to make the design fitting. For bad logo designs take a look here I always use the ‘less is more’ filosophy when designing a logo. A logo is the first thing people notice so it has to communicate effectively what it stands for. In order to do that it must be simple and clear. No added details that do not emphasise the essence. It must be simple and clear and yet unique so that it stands out in the midst of many others. This is probably the hardest to achieve since there are already so many logo’s out there. However, it is great to be challenged in that cause it really pulls on your creative mind. Tonight I am teaching Photoshop again at Rick a regional institute for culture and arts. When I just started teaching Photoshop I had students that did the course before, telling me that they signed up again cause thay had forgotten most everything. Now Photoshop is a very extensive and sometimes complicated program to teach AND master in just 10 lessons of 2 and a half hours. I decided to try and teach not the whole program but to get the students to understand the philosophy behind it. This way they will not get an overload of information which they will forget again. I found that it is good to stick to one system cause that way you really learn to understand it, which greatly enlarges your possibilities to customise at free will. I think with the release of Joomla! 1.6 things have become even more user-friendly! Especially the version update is a lot easier since it can simply be done through the admin!
